I am totally well aware that in most places it is super freaking freezing at the moment. Which would make it seem crazy that I am sharing a drink that is over ice and usually enjoyed in the summer, but what the heck! I love a good Michelada for a few reasons– One, it is something different. The second reason being that they remind me of my sister. This is one of her favorite drinks, and the taste transports me back to afternoons at the Ports of Call in San Pedro where we would sit cracking crabs and making jokes. There would be mariachi bands, tons of people, and the smell of delicious seafood cooking. As much as I love living here in Westerville I do miss those days with her. So if you are looking for a different type of cocktail to have with tacos, seafood, or just chips and salsa with a side of really good guacamole this is the drink for you. Enjoy!!
A Michelada for Lupe
A light Mexican beer mixed with lime and spices. Refreshing and flavorful.
A large chilled glass is an important part of this recipe. Saying this put your glasses in the freezer a head of time.
Juice one of your limes (about 1/4 cup), and cut the other into wedges.
Combine the lime juice, Clamato juice, Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, Maggi seasoning, salt and pepper in a pitcher and stir well. Then place in the fridge to keep cold.
Pour the Tajin into a dish ( you can possibly need more than the 3 TBS depending on how much you want on your glass). Next remove your glasses from the freezer that have been chilling and using a lime wedge go all around the rim of your glass, and then dip each glass into the Tajin.
The drink is almost finished! Fill the glass with as much ice as you like, pour that Michelada mix into the glass ( you want to split the mixture into two glasses) and then pour the beer right in. Give it a good stir and enjoy!!
